Why YesDVD?

YesVideo Quality

Commitment to High Quality

At YesVideo, we strive to provide the highest-quality transfers to DVD. Our intensive quality-assurance process tries to catch any quality issues before the final DVDs are shipped.

If you are not satisfied with the quality of your footage on your DVD, please let us know by filling out the Report a Problem form. We will attempt to reprocess your footage.

Handling Footage of Below-Standard Quality

During processing, our team occasionally encounters orders containing footage that is below our standard for transferring to DVD. In most of these cases, the source media has degraded due to age, storage conditions or use. Because it is important to preserve these memories and prevent further degradation, we will transfer the footage on DVD anyway.

In these cases, we will try every technological process in-house to recover the content and archive it to DVD. Because we feel that we cannot make any further improvements, these orders are not eligible for reprocessing. These types of orders will include a note that explains this policy.

Poor Quality Audio
This may be caused by one of 2 reasons -
1) The audio recorded is not from a clean source (maybe a bad cable). You will hear interference.
2) The videotape has begun to degrade, and this is noticeable with the audio. The most obvious sign is when the audio fades in and out.

Weak Digital/Blue Screen
Blue screen is typically caused by a loss of signal on the videotape. The VCR is trying to read the content of the videotape, but due to the degradation of the tape, the video signal is weak. When the VCR cannot read the signal it will display a blank screen which is usually blue. This can appear throughout the DVD if the videotape signal is weak.

Pixilated Video
Pixilation is caused by videotape degradation. The newer, smaller videotape formats are much more fragile and begin to degrade much quicker. Recording over a miniDV cassette even once can bring about degradation in the form of pixilation.

Video Tracking Problems
A videotape can become stretched due to degradation. Tracking lines may appear throughout the video footage. While adjusting a VCR setting may sometimes address the tracking lines, they cannot be eliminated altogether.

Movie Film is out of Focus
If the movie film was originally shot out of focus, just like a photograph, sharpening it through enhancement will not help. It will be rendered onto the DVD out of focus, just like the original images.

Severely Degraded Movie Film
When movie film degrades it loses its colour. The last colour to fade is the red tone. Digital enhancement does not change colour; it softens the red (contrast).
